In 2022, the city of Bietigheim-Bissingen awarded the »Linocut today« Graphic Award for the 12th time. The Municipal Gallery received more than 500 applications from 31 different countries all over the world. The prize, which was founded in 1989, has long since established itself as one of the most important international graphic arts awards. Every three years, with a total prize money of €10,000 and purchases for the collection of the Municipal Gallery, the city encourages contemporary artists, who have either worked with linocut for a long time or have only recently discovered the fascination of this traditional technique. Artists from all over the world are invited to apply for participation with photographs. An internal jury decides which artists will be invited to enter original works for the final selection. For the competition in 2022 »Linocut today XII« a jury of five determined the award winners: Martin Schick (Director of Galerie der Stadt Backnang), Isabel Herda (Director of the Graphic Arts Collection, Städtische Museen Freiburg), Uta Zaumseil (award winner of the Graphic Arts Prize »Linocut today VII«, 2007 und »Linocut today VIII«, 2010), Dr. Isabell Schenk-Weininger (Director of Städtische Galerie Bietigheim-Bissingen) and Stefan Benning (Head of Cultural office, City of Bietigheim-Bissingen). They examined all submitted works – until finally the three winners and the purchases for the collection of the Municipal Gallery had been determined. The exhibition took take place from 9^th July to 9^th October 2022.
