Every three years, the city of Bietigheim-Bissingen awards the graphic arts prize “Linocut Today,” which will be presented for the thirteenth time in 2025. Established in 1989, the prize has long since become an institution and has established itself as one of the most important international graphic arts awards: its focus on a single technique is also a unique selling point. Around 500 applications from all over the world are received each year. All forms of artistic linocut are welcome: from small-format black-and-white sheets to huge, colorful works. There are no limits to imagination and creativity! A five-member jury then selects three prize winners and three artists whose works are purchased for the collection of the Municipal Gallery. In the last competition, the jury consisted of: Dr. Marina von Assel (former director of the Bayreuth Art Museum), Dr. Thomas Köllhofer (curator of the graphic arts collection, Kunsthalle Mannheim), Sebastian Speckmann (1st prize winner “Linocut Today VII,” 2007), Dr. Isabell Schenk-Weininger (director of the Städtische Galerie Bietigheim-Bissingen), and Michaela Ruof (director of the Cultural Office of the City of Bietigheim-Bissingen). The diverse exhibition “Linocut Today XIII,” featuring works by 45 selected artists, was on display from July to October 2025.
